Guinness Brown Bread   

Your “must bake” bread for St. Patrick’s Day! This easy to make bread is soft, moist, slightly sweet and filled with rich, malty goodness of Guinness.
For Guinness lovers, this is an absolutely great way to get your favourite beer into your bread!

Serve warm with butter and honey or alongside a hearty Irish beef stew

INGREDIENTS

DoughQuantity
Flour (75% white, 25% wholemeal)300g
Molasses30g
Guinness (room temperature)120ml
Water (warm)60ml
Salt5g
Saf-instant® Gold instant dry yeast5g
Margarine / Butter50g
Oat flakesAs desired

PREPARE THE DOUGH

  1. Place all the ingredients into the mixer and mix well till the dough is smooth.
  2. Place the dough into an oiled bowl, cover with cling wrap or damp cloth.
  3. Let it rest for 1 hour at room temperature or 12 hours in chiller.

SHAPING

  1. Mould the dough into a smooth oval shape and roll it in oat flakes.
  2. Place the dough into a loaf tin.
  3. Cover the tin and let it rest for 2 hours in a warm temperature.

BAKING

  1. Preheat oven at 200˚C.
  2. Bake for 25 minutes at 200˚C.
  3. Let it cool before serving.
